Loving the Lake

We only moved to Reno last Monday, but we've already made two lake trips. The first trip, Daddy, Mommy, Grandma Linda, Pookie, Bubba, and I went to see Grandma and Grandpa O's new property along the shore. Let me tell you, it's BEAUTIFUL! We did a fun forest walk and then sat on the dock looking at the pretty water.

Our second trip was today. Daddy, Mommy, Uncle Colin, and I went to Sand Harbor for some fun in the sand, sun, and water. The mountains and greenery surrounding the clear water made a gorgeous backdrop for our play day. The bold beauty must have emboldened me a bit because I actually put one of my toes in the water on purpose!

Hopefully, we'll be able to do some more lake trips while this nice, warm weather lasts.

My biking helmet has recently become my favorite hat. I like to wear it always. Form meets function to create the perfect accessory!

The Big Move

Sunday, August 15th, we made a big move from our home in Hawthorne, CA to a new home in Reno, NV. We moved so Daddy can pursue a new business venture as a restaurant franchisee. We are going to miss a lot about California, especially all the awesome people we love there, but thankfully my California family is committed to visiting me regularly and hopefully some of our old friends will come see us too. We have lots to look forward to in the Biggest Little City in the World. We are very close to Grandma and Grandpa O and Uncle Colin. Additionally, we have a bigger, newer home with a great play space for me. Also, there is a beautiful walking path along a wetland right by our house and it leads to one of the most awesome playgrounds I've ever seen! See pics below:

Packing up all of our belongings was a pretty lengthy ordeal. Who knew we had so much stuff? Daddy and Mommy seemed a little stressed, but it was pretty easy on my part. It was like our whole house became a jungle gym of boxes and random treasures that had previously been out of my reach. I had fun playing in the boxes and exploring the different objects. Occasionally, I lent a helping hand to clean too. I'd use a paper towel or bath cloth and dip it in milk from my sippy cup and wipe everything down. For some reason, Mommy wasn't as grateful for my help as I thought she would be...

The drive was a lengthy ordeal too. Daddy drove the big truck which was jam packed from top to bottom (see first photo atop). Andy Pop drove our Land Rover which was also loaded down. I rode with Mommy and Grandma Linda in Grandma Linda's Honda. We left LA at 10AM and got to Reno at about 7PM. We made one pit stop at Pea Soup Anderson's in Santa Nella. Not to toot my own horn, but I was a pretty great sport about the whole road trip thing. It was a long time to sit in one spot, but I didn't complain much. I just read, napped, played with dolls and stickers, and sang.

Now that we're in Reno, we're getting settled in one box at a time. My play room is all set up, so at least the most important part of unpacking is done. For the rest, we can take our time.

Thanks to everyone who helped us with our big move! I don't even want to think about how long it would have taken without you! Thank you also to everyone who came to our Adios Amigos Party the Saturday before we moved. You made a great contribution to our big collection of fun California memories.

Cupcake Couture for Cousin Maggie's BDay

On Sunday, August 8th, we went to Redlands to celebrate Cousin Maggie's first birthday at Great Uncle Terry and Aunt Janise's house. It was an ultra sheek vintage fete with lots of creative, fun touches courtesy of Cuzzle Missy. I had fun playing with my cousins, splashing around in the pool, and eating delicious cupcakes. One and a Half!

I'm 18 months 0ld now! I made a lot of progress in Month 18. My language skills have sky-rocketed. I will try to say anything you say, and some of it is actually intelligible! I still have some of my old favorite words (i.e. Bubba, Mama, Dada, and outside) along with a whole crop of new favs (i.e. Keekee for Pookie, blimp, yellow, hug, a-do-do for no thank you, socks, shoes, bear, hippo, arm, I yoyu for I love you, and weygo for where'd it go). I still love to sing and dance. In music class, I can do a lot of the moves and sing some parts right on cue. My fav songs right now are Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys; Hot, Hot, Hot by various artists on the Ultimate Party Mix; and of course, Down by Jay Sean. Of all the developments in Month 18, however, one dwarfs the rest as the all-time most impressive - I'm finally getting teeth! So far, I have two coming in on the bottom in front. I love to feel them with my tongue. I heard it can be painful to get your teeth in, but so far, I haven't experienced anything too bad. Hopefully, I can hang on to that good luck.

Party for Baby Brother

Last Friday, Mommy's friend, Leslie (aka Eric's Mommy), hosted a party to celebrate me getting a baby brother. Grandma Linda and several of Mommy's friends attended, and anyone who had a baby brought him/her along. It turned out to be a fantastic playdate for me. Eric let us play with all of his cool toys. It was also nice to see all the people who share my excitement about the new baby to come. I loved looking at all the cool presents people brought for him too. Zoo Trip

Last Thursday, we went to the San Diego Zoo. I was so excited to get there that I couldn't nap on the drive as Daddy and Mommy had planned. I just wanted to sing and babble the whole way there. Unfortunately, that meant I had a system crash and passed out about two hours into our zoo visit. I still got to see lots of cool stuff during the time I was awake, though. My favorites were the gorillas and the polar bear. Here are some pics from our zoo day:

Filly Fun

This summer, we've gone to Hollywood Park and Del Mar to see the horsies race. Grandpa T loves to study the horses and predict who is going to win. Daddy and Mommy bet on their favorite horse names. I just like to watch them go by and yell, "Nee!" (Neigh). In between races, I enjoy playing in my tent. Here are some pics from our fun days at the track.
