Can you believe it? I'm six months old! Mommy and Grandpa T took me to see Dr. Shaw, my pediatrician, last Wednesday for my six-month check up. Here are my new stats: I weigh 13 pounds, 10 ounces and I am 24 and 1/4 inches long. The doc says that I'm smaller than about 90% of babies my age, but that I'm growing at a fine rate and that I look perfect. I enjoy being cute and petite, but the doctor said that my size now won't necessarily reflect my size as an adult. I could have a growth spurt any time and be super tall like Daddy. Mommy mentioned to the doc that all of my thick, dark hair is coming out and Dr. Shaw said it's normal. She said that I'll lose my newborn hair and baby hair will grow in its place. So far, my baby hair is thin and light reddish brown to match my eyebrows. I may end up looking as Irish as my name sounds - I'll be a baby leprechaun!
I showed Dr. Shaw a couple of my latest skills: sitting up with no support and pushing up on my arms from my tummy. Dr. Shaw was very impressed and she loved my smile. She asked Mommy if I charmed strangers with my smile and Mommy told her that I charm them all the time and that it's hard to get out the grocery store because so many people want to come talk to me and look at me. All was lovely until the nurse came in with the needles. They get me every time! I was a tough girl, though, and I only cried for less than a minute after my shots. Mommy and Grandpa T were very proud of me.
I'm very excited about being six months old. Sitting up has added a whole new dimension of fun to play time. And best of all, I get to start eating solid foods now!
